A nippy right-arm pace bowler, Anya Shrubsole is a vital cog in the English bowling attack. Nick-named as 'Hoof' - for sometimes walking like a show pony with her feet, Anya has the ability to swing the ball both ways. Shrubsole played youth cricket for Somerset and made her first-team county debut at the age of 12. Shrubsole won the Most Promising Young Women's Cricketer Award in 2008 and was selected for the 2009 World Cup. Since then she has formed a lethal new-ball opening combination alongside Katherine Brunt which has served England cricket well over the years.
After stellar performances in both ODIs and T20Is which included taking 3 for 19 on T20 debut where she was named Player of the Match, Shrubsole made her Test debut against Australia in 2013 and finished the 2014 World Twenty20 as the leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets. She was named as the Player of the Tournament for her showing.
