Peter Borren

Peter Borren is a New Zealand-born Dutch cricketer who began playing cricket for New Zealand and represented them in the Under-19 World Cup in 2002. He played alongside Ross Taylor and Jesse Ryder in that team.

Interestingly, he had never been coached seriously until he joined the Netherlands squad. He made his ODI debut for the side in 2006 against Sri Lanka. It was a not an auspicious start for him as he was taken apart by the Sri Lankan batsmen giving 94 runs in his 10 overs. But good performances followed this debacle. He was a part of the Dutch squad for the World Cricket League in Kenya and also represented them in the 2007 World Cup. A smashing 96 against Canada in 2007, saw him coming of age as an useful all-rounder. He was also the main star of an historic win against England in the World T20 at Lords. He picked up Eoin Morgan's wicket, a turning point of the match and also scored a 25-ball 30 putting up a 50-run stand with Tom de Grooth that helped Netherlands in clinching the game.
